Pan-African Flag
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day, commemorating MLK's birthday on January 15, 1929. MLK day became a federal holiday in 1983 by Ronald Reagan. This flag was created by the Universal Negro Improvement Associate and African Communities League in response to the popularized song "Every Race has a Flag but the Coon." Red symbolizes the blood shared by all people of Black African ancestry. Black symbolizes a united black nation, though not a nation state, being affirmed by this flag. Green to represent the abundant natural wealth of Africa.
